5 Minute Home Decor Hack: How to Make an Easy Woven Wall Hanging
I dearest a good decor hack. Specially when it but takes five minutes to make! So, today I'm sharing a wall art / weaving hack that you lot tin can complete in basically no fourth dimension at all!
Correct now I have this guy hanging up at the house. Recognize it from my recent guest bedroom makeover? But it'd besides be a cool gift for whatever creative friends or family during the holidays, birthdays, housewarming souvenir, etc.
All you need is a small 2×3 carpet and a few other items. Desire to make your ain? Here's how…
Woven Wall Hanging Materials
- ii×3 woven rug (mine is from Urban Outfitters – and it comes in other colors as well)
- stitch witchery OR a needle and thread if your rug is thick
- yarn or twine
- brass hanging piece (or make your own – I'll explain later)
- dowel rod
- atomic number 26 (just needed if you're using stitch witchery)
How to Make a Woven Wall Hanging
i. Beginning past cutting a dowel rod downwards to size. You'll demand the dowel to be a couple inches longer than your weaving width on both sides. See photo for guide. *If yous mensurate ahead of fourth dimension, you can take the dowel rod cut for you at a hardware store, as long as it's over 12 inches.
two. Adjacent, flip carpeting over (good side facing the ground) and place dowel rod approximately where it will exist. Then add together a strip of stitch witch underneath the dowel rod. Again, as shown.
iii. Heat upwardly your iron, fold over the top flap of the carpet and follow instructions on stitch witchery…basically merely go along running iron over the elevation until the heat from the iron and bonded the two pieces together. *If yous accept a peculiarly thick rug, yous may have to apply a needle and thread instead.
four. Tie a slice of yarn to each side of the dowel rod and double or tripe knot on each side, equally shown. Cut off any excess and it'south set up to hang. OR you can add a contumely piece on top like mine. In which, case at that place'south 1 more step…
5. Using an extra slice of yarn, weave through a hole in the brass and a weaving opening in the rug, double or triple knot and yous're good to go. Super easy, right?!
Can't observe a contumely hanging sculpture similar mine? You lot can DIY your own!
Just grab some sparse contumely sheets (or even copper sheets) and some handheld metal cutters and cutting out shapes on your own, then punch a small hole through each one to cord them together or attach them directly to your weaving.
